In 2019 Rizzoli Editions have published this iconic book: ''Lagerfeld, The Chanel Show''s By Simon Procter
Lagerfeld, The Chanel Shows showcases, in an oversize format, ten years of Chanel's most influential fashion shows .Over the past decade, fashion shows have evolved into monumental productions, requiring a level of sophistication and creativity on par with the clothes they present. This has been most evident in Paris at the now legendary runways of Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel. Procter’s resulting artworks are held in collections worldwide and published in this book alongside never-before-seen candid images of Lagerfeld and the models preparing backstage.
Biography:
Navigating between photography, architecture and classical painting, the British artist Simon Procter begins by immortalizing the majestic shows of Fashion Houses such as Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, Lagerfeld, Prada, Stella McCartney. Conquered by his daring shots and the beauty of his work, the great designers open their inaccessible doors of their universes to him. Sometimes positioned more than 100 meters high, Simon Procter sublimates these events and the architecture of these monumental sites, which are shadowed, for a few hours, in the colors of the biggest luxury brands. The Grand Palais, the Opéra Garnier, the Carrousel du Louvre, the Cirque d'Hiver, Time Square etc. become places of staging where the creation and imagination of two artists converge. During Art Basel Miami in 2008, Audrey Trabelsi CEO of Art Photo Expo selected Simon Procter who met his first successes with many collectors around the world.Born in the north of England, Simon Procter grew up in a small mining village in Yorkshire. He studied Fine Arts, specializing in painting and sculpture. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honors) from Nottingham Trent University. These disciplines will give him an artistic breath, very present in these photographic works. A renowned photographer, he has contributed to numerous international advertising campaigns and collaborates with the most prestigious international magazines. Since his first exhibition at Miami Art Basel 2008, he has distinguished himself as one of the most prominent contemporary art photographers of his generation. His works are present in museums and major collections around the world. Simon Procter lives between Paris, New York and his country house in the North of France.
